This is Love Hurts. Ashley Glicken is a writer and comedian living in Queens. Ashley noticed a problematic trend in pop culture of using a disabled sibling as a way of making a main character seem more sympathetic. She sits down with me to talk about the other side of that dynamic: what it was like growing up disabled and the effect it had on her relationship with her siblings.

Ashley contributes to Clickhole and writes for The Executives. You can follow her on twitter @petiteilanit.

Our theme song is EmoTown by Mikki Hommel. Show art by Caroline Mallon. Follow Love Hurts on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, and rate and review on Apple Podcasts!
